The Honey // Chapter 8

Chapter 8 of The Honey: President Honey is an ode to series creator, Rendani Nemakhavhani's grandmother. Francina Siwela. Nemakhavhani worked with collaborating photographer Kgomotso Neto Tleane to create their new chapter. "This chapter speaks to how I've experienced love in its greatest form and also how I'm really an amazing woman because of one particular woman. Working with Kgomotso is always the best thing because he always just goes with the ideas I propose to him and we guide each other through it all. I'm truly grateful. We make a really great team."

#WCW // Shaina McCoy

"Cheek bones higher than that thang 🌻"

We havent done a #WCW is a long while and we want to shine the light on Shaina McCoy.  An oil painter who lives and works in Minneapolis, Minnesota and began painting while studying.

Her striking oil paintings are very interesting to look at because of the intense brush stroke technique, the interesting color combination and that her subjects do not have facial features.

Polo Tournament is back again this weekend!

A few weeks ago we had so much fun with our co-host Whippet Cycling and other Cycling Gangs at our first Polo Tournament. This weekend we want to extend the invite to you for an open court game at 157 Fulham Road, Brixton Johannesburg. All you need to bring is a Bike and stick.

See you then! For more details follow @whipprtcycles on Instagram.

Darkie Fiction // Bozza

There is something about this music video...could it be the way that the music video is like a combination of sounds that resemble the Old Kwaito and an infusion of Afropop. Or is it the art direction of the music video bringing back the vibes of friends having fun and being unapologetically young and free, together with the way everyone is styled in fits and combos our parents used to rock back then when they were our age.

But whatever it is that Darkie Fiction is doing the must carry on doing the damn thing!

Happy Women's Day with our Female Icon's t-shirt

We created a tshirt range to celebrate the women who we grew up listening to while mama would cook Sunday lunch or when there was an msebenzi at home. These women shaped our musical experience from a young age. And the creation of these tee's also meant that we appreciate our female customers, who have supported us even when the Thesis Lifestyle t-shirts were originally made for men.

We got so much critism for firstly adding mama Letta Mbulu on the tshirt amongst the Female Icons who have passed away. Our answer was, why should we only celebrate legends when they have only passed away? This was our way of giving Mama Letta Mbulu roses while she can still smell them.

Oh but Mama Brenda Fassie had to be on this t-shirt as the baddest Female singer in SA who fought so many battles through her music, the way she dressed, the way she spoke and the way she acted.

Mama Mirriam Makeba was a National Treasure who sailed over the seas to fly the South African flag very high.

Lebo Mathosa we miss you, come back home beloved if possible!

The greatest that ever lived Busi Mhlongo! Mama, we thank you for your music that helped us reconnect with being African. Despite what they said about our skin colour.

We have made these t-shirts readily available for you at our Mofolo store in black and white | R200 each.
